Question 1

Margaret is a feared boss who does not let anything get in to her way. She likes getting thing done her way, and she takes any person who does not perform their duties as being irresponsible and lazy. She gets Frank to do publicity, which Bob had taken too long to sway him to take the task and when Margaret convince Frank to take the task, he sees Bob as being incompetent, and unable, to effectively perform his work. This makes her fire Bob immediately, and this marks the end of Bob’s Job and the beginning of a successful editing company, because the company manages to get the best publisher in town (Page, 8).

Margaret receives a visitor who is from the immigration department, and she is supposed to be deported for illegally being in the country unless she gets married, or gets a reason to convince the immigration department that she should stay in the country. The only person who comes to Margaret finds the only person who can save her and make her avoid being deported is Bob. She gives him a condition that if he agrees to tell the immigration officer that he is Margaret’s husband, he will get back his old job (Page, 16). This marks the beginning of Margaret’s life in the country as Bob agrees to the task, and this makes Bob, to not only lose his job, but also to win Margaret’s heart as his fiancée.

Question 2

At the beginning of the script, Richard wanted to be the editor of Joyce Publishing Company. He had been promised the job by Margaret for a long time, and when Bob’s gets fired, Richard is almost assured that he will get the position. When Margaret gets a deportation notification, and she blackmails Bob, things change where Bob retains his old job, and this means that Richard could not get the position. Margaret had to change her promise to Richard who was her personal assistance of making him the editor, and make Bob retain his position, which worked for her own advantage. Everybody does not understand why Margaret and Bob become friends all over sudden, as they are not aware of the blackmail Bob is going through to retain his job…”
