Yeah, I know you\u2019ve got tired of every writing test and quiz in school, but here\u2019s another story, I promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Folks who read this blog know that it\u2019s not only about\u00a0essay writing<\/a>. Lesley and I love reading and\u00a0we read a lot. Also, I draw from time to time, and Lesley\u00a0writes about books and authors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, we\u2019ve decided to give a new meaning to boring book quizzes and writing tests. This quiz won\u2019t be about\u00a0\u201cWhat should I read next?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0or any other kind of book recommendations quiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea has popped up out of a clear blue sky. I finished reading\u00a0Master and Margarita<\/em>\u00a0and started exploring\u00a0Bulgakov\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0biography. I wanted to know more about the author and find some kick-ass cool facts about the novel.\u00a0This is what I found on one of the sites<\/a>\u00a0(original illustration by\u00a0Anton Glotov<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impressive, huh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those carefully crafted bits capture the essence and\u00a0reading atmosphere of the novel<\/a>. So I sent it to a few friends and asked them to guess which book was behind the image (not all of them were bookworms, I must admit). Some guessed while some did not. But most of them asked if there were any other similar images they could use as writing tests for students at school or just share with friends in love with books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I\u2019ve realized that I would happily challenge myself and guess, and guess, and guess again! Several hours of concentrated googling did not yield any results \u2013 I couldn\u2019t find anything similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWho else if not me?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0I asked myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I put together a list of writers<\/a>\u00a0who wielded significant influence on me when I read their works, and I tried to visualize some of their most influential writings in this book quiz.\u00a0(Click to enlarge)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
